Influential British Brit-pop band The Verve will
mount their first U.S.
tour in nearly 10 years this spring. The Verve formed in Wigan
in 1990 and released their debut album A Storm in Heaven three years
later. It was followed by the
critic-favorite A Northern Soul in 1995. In the summer of 1997, the Verve
established themselves as one of the most influential English rock bands of all
time with the release of Urban Hymns, but didn’t make a commercial splash until
releasing the singles “Bitter Sweet Symphony,” The Drugs Don’t Work” and “Lucky Man.”
The group recently reformed and will make stops in select U.S. markets this spring, including San Francisco, CA’s
Warfield Theatre (4/23), Coachella (4/25), Las Vegas’
The Pearl Concert Theater At Palms (4/26) and New York’s WaMu Theater At Madison Square
Garden (4/28-29). The Verve’s upcoming
gigs at MSG mark the band’s first New
York shows in a decade.
