The Police will end their year-plus reunion tour with a
benefit performance at New York’s Madison Square Garden
on August 7. As previously reported, the performance will benefit the New York public
television stations Thirteen/WNET and WLIW21. Tickets will only be available
through direct donations to the PBS stations beginning June 14. The Police have
grossed approximately $212 million since officially reuniting in May of 2007.
Before their final show the group will also donate a $1 million contribution to
New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg's MillionTreesNYC program. Since reuniting,
the group has sold out both stadiums and arenas, performed at festivals ranging
from Bonnaroo to Live Earth and even jammed with estranged original guitarist Henry
Padovani.
