Prog/metal sensation
The Mars Volta has confirmed its New Year’s Eve plans. The hard-rocking psychedelic-influenced
group will ring in 2008 with a headlining appearance at San Francisco, CA’s
Graham Civic Auditorium. The group is
encouraging fans to come in costume and promises free bagels during their
performance. The gig arrives shortly before The Mars Volta is scheduled to
release its newest studio album, The
Bedlam in Goliath, on January 29 through GSL/Universal. The album was produced by The Mars Volta’s Omar
Rodriguez-Lopez and features a guest appearance by Red Hot Chili Peppers
guitarist John Frusciante. The Mars Volta has supported the Red Hot Chili
Peppers on the road on several occasions.
Prior, The Omar
Rodriguez-Lopez Quintet will release an album entitled The Apocalypse Inside an Orange on November 20. The album features
contributions from Mars Volta members Juan Alderete de la Pena (bass), Marcel
Rodriguez-Lopez (drums) and Adrian Terrazas Gonzales (horns, percussion), in
addition to Beastie Boys keyboardist "Money Mark” Ramos-Nishita.
