The Kinks are the next band to jump on the reunion bandwagon. According to an interview with frontman Ray Davies , published in London's The Mirror, the seminal garage-rock band's original lineup will publicly perform together for the first time since 1969. Original bassist Pete Quaife split with Ray and Dave Davies and drummer Mick Avory in 1969, shortly before the group recorded its influential single, "Lola." From then until 1996, the Davies toured as the Kinks with a rotating lineup of musicians. The group's original lineup also performed a few songs at their 1990 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction.

A few years ago the group's reunion hopes seemed slim: Ray Davies is currently touring as a successful solo artist, his brother had a stroke in 2004 and Quaife has suffered from kidney problems. According to his recent interview, Davies hopes to both tour and record with the original Kinks in 2008. The group is one of the few iconic bands from the 1960s with all its original members still alive
