Brooklyn rockers The Hold Steady have
confirmed a string of tour dates in support of their new album, Stay Positive. The group’s first album
since their breakthrough Boys and Girls
in American will be released July 15 on Vagrant. Stay Positive’s first single, "Sequestered in Memphis," will be available
on iTunes beginning May 20.
According to the band, most of the songs on Stay Positive came together on the road while the band was touring
the world behind Boys and Girls in America, a run
that found the band playing well over 200 shows in 2007 alone. The tracks on Stay Positive find the band growing more
musically complex, experimenting with instruments like harpsichord, banjo, and
talk box. After appearing at Chula Vista, CA’s 94/9 Independence Jam
on June 9, The Hold Steady will kick off its summer tour at Baltimore, MD’s
Ram's Head Live! on June 27. As of press time, the extended run is expected to
continue through an August 13 appearance at Norfolk, VA’s
The Norva.
