Pearl Jam founding guitarist Stone Gossard is previewing his latest batch of
songs on Pearl Jam’s official homepage. The
tracks have been made available in advance of the Dig It campaign, a multi-city
initiative bringing together eco-minded activists and artists for day-long
re-greening efforts. Gossard and the Dig It team will make stops in Boston
(10/1), New York (10/4), Los
Angeles (10/11) and San
Francisco (10/18), planting trees in each city along the way.
Following the tree-planting ceremony, Gossard will offer a rare solo show with
special guests that include The Hank Khoir and Vince Mira.
Gossard’s latest batch of songs will be included on his second solo album,
which is scheduled for release later this year. The project is Gossard’s
second solo effort, following 2001’s Bayleaf.
He has also released four albums with his side band, Brad.
Before co-founding Pearl Jam, Gossard played in the seminal grunge group Green
River and the hard-rocking Mother Love Bone, as well as the supergroup tribute band
Temple of the Dog.
Green River recently reunited as part of Sub
Pop’s 20th anniversary celebration.
