Steely Dan will once again hit the
road this summer for a series of theater dates and small shed shows. Walter
Becker and Donald Fagen hit the road for the first time in almost a decade in
2000 and have toured sporadically ever since. The group’s latest outing has
been dubbed the Think Fast, Steely Dan Summer Tour 2009 and will make stops in several
East Coast cities before coming to a close at Canada’s Ottawa Jazz Festival on
July 5. In addition to a variety of Steely Dan hits, the group is expected to
touch upon Fagen's Nightfly Trilogy
and Becker's upcoming solo album, Circus
Money, which will hit stores on June 10. Becker and Fagen are said to have
personally handpicked the opening acts for their Think Fast tour, including rising
jazz star Sam Yahel and his Organ Trio, who will open the first leg of Steely
Dan’s journey. As of press time, the group will hit the road on June 8 at Ft.
Lauderdale, FL’s Hard Rock Café, before making stops in Clearwater, FL (6/9), Alpharetta,
GA (6/11), New York (6/13-14, 17), Boston (6/23), Wallingford, CT (6/25), Atlantic
City (6/27), Camden, NJ (6/28), Montreal (7/1-2), Rama Rama (7/3) and Ottawa,
ON (7/5). Several additional dates and opening acts will be confirmed in the
coming weeks.
