Politically-charged rockers State Radio will close 2008 with a performance at Washington, DC’s 9:30 Club on December 26. The special gig is billed as an early “welcome  to the neighborhood” party for President Elect Barack Obama. In addition, State Radio frontman Chad Stoke Urmston will play two rare, solo acoustic shows in his hometown of Boston on December 6 and 7 as part of a week-long celebration leading up to the 60th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights on December 10.

State Radio recently capped off a 24-city Take Back The Country tour in support of its 2008 release, Year of the Crow. The band has been documenting  the tour and sharing live video with their fans along the way, from backstage footage to stage performances.

Prior to these headlining dates, State Radio played with Rage Against The  Machine at an antiwar rally at Denver’s Democratic National convention, joined Tom Morello for a handful of dates on the “Justice Tour,” opened for Dave Matthews Band for a few shows and appeared at a number of major U.S. festivals this past summer including Bonnaroo, Summerfest, Wakarusa, Rothbury Festival and Mile High Festival.
