Austin’s SXSW has confirmed its initial lineup. The annual music industry gathering will take place from March 9-18, boasting an eclectic mix of shows, seminars, and speakers. As previously reported Pete Townsend, who was featured on the cover of Relix’s June issue, will deliver SXSW’s keynote address, while Emmylou Harris and the Stooges' Iggy Pop will also speak. Spoon, RJD2, Bloc Party, Antibalas, The Good, The Bad & The Queen , Lily Allen, Spoon, Apples in Stereo, Daniel Johnston and the Nightmares, The Long Winters, Los Straitjackets, the Little Ones, Eliot Lipp, JJ Grey and MOFRO, Galactic, Golem, Brother Ali, the Early Years, the Frames, Forro in the Dark, Graham Colton, Joan as Police Woman, Illinois, The Holmes Brothers, Holy Fuck, Emily Haines & The Soft Skeleton, John Hammond, Albert Hammond, Jr., The Mooney Suzuki, and the Figgs are among the 1300 bands scheduled to perform.  Tommy Ramone will also perform with his new group Uncle Monk. In addition,  SXSW will hold a film festival featuring such independent releases as Les Claypool’s Electric Apricot and Senior Relix Editor Dean Budnick’s Wetlands Preserved. SXSW will also offset its environmental impact through a number of donations.
