Sonny Rollins, Herbie Hancock and Chris Botti Head to Newport |

Sonny Rollins, Herbie Hancock and Chris Botti will
headline the 2008 JVC Jazz Festival Newport. Produced by The Festival
Network, LLC (FN), the event will take place from August 8 through August 10 at
Newport, RI’s Fort Adams
State Park, with a Friday
evening festival opening performance at The International Tennis Hall of Fame
at The Newport Casino. Taking a cue from the Jammys, the festival will feature
a number of cross-generational artist pairings, including Fred Wesley performing
with both Lettuce and Soulive and Chris Potter joining the Marco Benevento Trio.
Other confirmed acts include: Wayne Shorter Quartet, Dave Holland-Gonzalo
Rubalcaba-Chris Potter-Eric Harland, Ledisi, Charlie Hayden-Ethan Iverson-Paul
Motian, Jacob Fred Jazz Odyssey, Christian Scott, Warren Vache Quintet, Aaron
Goldberg Trio, Herbie Hancock, Anthony Hamilton, Guillermo Klein Y Los Gauchos,
Lionel Loueke Trio, Chris Potter’s Underground, George Wein and the Newport
All-Stars featuring Anat Cohen-Howard Alden and Mark Rapp Band.
