Page McConnell to Play for the Simpsons Print E-mail

Page McConnell will return to Springfield—Vermont—to celebrate the premiere of The Simpsons Movie this weekend. Springfield, VT was one of 14 “Springfields” around the nation that competed to win the film’s ‘Hometown Premiere’ All fourteen locations share their name with the mythic town. USA Today then invited its readers to vote for their favorite Springfield hometown movie. The contest was a success with 109,582 votes cast online, while Springfield, VT won the competition with 15,367 votes. Springfield, IL came a close second with 14,634 and Springfield was third place with 13,894 votes.

Vermont’s Springfield will host the hometown premiere of The Simpsons Movie at 2 PM tomorrow at the Springfield movie theater. The event will feature appearances by Simpsons producers Matt Groening, Jim Brooks, Al Jean, Richard Sakai and  David Silverman.  Page McConnell, who appeared on The Simpsons with Phish in 2002, will also perform. McConnell will play a short set for VIPs in support of his new self-titled album.
