Two months after scoring their first lesson from Phil Lesh, members of the Phil Lesh University Master Class will perform at New York’s Cutting Room on January 19. In November Lesh led a master class and offered an intimate performance with John Scofield at New York’s S.O.B’s. Lesh’s class arrived shortly after the release of his first DVD, Live at the Warfield, on Relix Records. The PLU alumni will offer their own takes on a number of Grateful Dead chestnuts, utilizing Lesh’s improvisational "group mind" approach as well as their own unique musical chemistry.  For this performance Splintered Sunlight bassist Anders Alfelt will fill in for Lesh. Conan O Brian’s Mark Pender Band will also open the evening festivities and a number of surprise guests are expected. For more information please visit www.thecuttingroomnyc.com

Lesh is currently recovering from surgery after being diagnosed with prostate cancer in late-2006. He has no confirmed tour plans as of press time.
