The inaugural Outside Lands Music & Arts Festival is set to open tomorrow in San Francisco’s Golden Gate Park. The festival will continue through Sunday, presenting music on six stages distributed throughout the Park. More than 60 artists will participate, including:  Radiohead, Jack Johnson, Tom Petty & Heartbreakers, Wilco, Beck, Widespread Panic, Mike Gordon, Ben Harper & The Innocent Criminals, Rodrigo y Gabriela, Steve Winwood, Kings of Leon and the Benevento/Russo Duo.

In addition to these performances, Outside Lands will offer a number of on-site activities with a particular emphasis on sustainable green practices.  Eco Lands, powered by PG&E, will present a solar powered stage, organic farmers’ market and coffee bar, interactive energy efficiency exhibits, environmental education and a recycling center. CrowdFire, created by Outside Lands and Federated Media, and presented by Microsoft, will allow participants to “upload their audio, images, video and text to the CrowdFire online community, then watch as it fuses into a collective expression of the Outside Lands experience.”  The festival also will feature fresh, locally grown organic produce and meat as well as cuisine from numerous local restaurants.  The  complementary “Winehaven” Tent will showcase the efforts of numerous local wineries.

Tickets are still on sale for the festival, both for one day or three day entry, with a  green option available as well.
