Ryan Adams will close out his three-night residency at New York's Town Hall tonight. Promising no repeats throughout his hometown run,
the guitarist has drawn from each of his albums, as well as his numerous
unreleased recording sessions. Adams has also shown
off his knowledge of the Grateful Dead canon, polished since he began collaborating with Phil Lesh, by
offering “Wharf Rat” Monday and “Stella Blue” Tuesday. The latter number
appears on Willie Nelson’s new album, Songbird, which Adams
produced. Each night a surprise guest has also opened the guitarist’s show: Sean Lennon (Monday) and The
Little Willies featuring Norah Jones (Tuesday). Jones returned during Adams set for a version of “Dear John,” which appears on 2005’s Jacksonville
City Nights.
