In addition to being a singer/songwriter, Joseph Arthur is
also a visual artist. Recently the rising star has had his work on display at
Brooklyn’s Museum
of Modern Arthur , a gallery
located in the city’s creative hub Dumbo. But rent problems have forced Arthur
to close down his exhibition space, oddly enough around the release of his new
album Temporary People. “I can't disclose details but let's just say, in the
immortal words of Kenny Rogers, ‘You gotta know when to fold ‘em/Know when to
walk away/Know when to run,” Arthur says. “And the big bad landlord is
giving us the boot (We pay our rent but other things factor into this Up and coming thriving metropolis known as Dumbo).”
Arthur will host a free reception for his final exhibit tomorrow,
September 25. The guitarist is expected to perform with band at the event. Temporary People is also currently
streaming on NPR.org and KEXP.
