As the summer of reunions rages on, Led Zeppelin is reportedly reuniting for a one-off gig in honor of theirzep recently deceased record company boss, Ahmet Ertegun. While the date of the benefit gig has not been determined, singer Robert Plant, guitarist Jimmy Page and bassist John Paul Jones and late drummer John Bonham's son Jason are expected to play a show in London in the coming months. The quartet’s performance may lead to a more extended tour in 2008. Led Zeppelin officially disbanded after Bonham’s death in 1980 although the core trio reunited for a performance at Live Aid in 1985 with Tony Thompson and Phil Collins handling drum duties. Page and Plant reunited for an appearance on MTV Unplugged in 1994 and have toured and recorded on occasion since. Jones was a visible presence at Bonnaroo, jamming with Uncle Earl, Gillian Welch, Ben Harper, Gov’t Mule and anchoring the festivals annual SuperJam.

Ertegun died in December of 2006, seven weeks after falling and hitting his head backstage at the Beacon Theatre following a Rolling Stones concert. News surrounding the group’s current reunion plans first surfaced today after an article appeared in the World Entertainment News. If Led Zeppelin’s reunion plans continue as rumored, the group will join the Police, Genesis, Crowded House and Rage Against the Machine on the reunion bandwagon.
