LCD Soundsystem mastermind James Murphy has confirmed to NME.Com that he plans to release classic-rock sounding record on his label, DFA. Murphy has gone to great lengths to bridge the worlds of electronic and rock music over the past few years. LCD Soundsystem frequently tours as a full band, often sharing the stage with indie-rock acts like Arcade Fire. For his new classic rock project, Murphy plans to play bass alongside LCD Soundsystem drummer Pat Maloney, as well as former Hockey Night members Paul Sprangers and Scott Well.

“There's this rock band [I'm in], arguing about what name they are," Murphy told NME.Com. "We've gone back and forth for months, there's no way to say [what the band name is]. Pat and I are the drummer and the bass player [respectively].”

In addition to his production work, Murphy hosts a regular disco party at New York’s Santo’s Party House. He is also currently in the midst of a European tour.
