Bonnaroo staples Kings of Leon have confirmed an extended NorthAmerican tour in support of its new record, Only By the Night. The group will celebrate the album’s releasewith an extremely intimate show at NewYork’s Webster Hall on September 23, thealbum’s release date. Fellow new generation southern-rockers The Whigs are scheduled to open some of the dates. The Kings will then hit the road with The Stills and WeAre Scientists for a more extensive tour, beginning with an appearance at Las Vegas, NV’sThe Joint on October 11. The three bands will focus on West Coast and Midwestmarkets throughout October, including a Halloween performance at Chicago’s Aragon Ballroom.In November, The Whigs will swap in for The Stills on a round of Midwest and EastCoast dates, stretching from a November 1 appearance at Minneapolis’s Orpheum Theatre through a November 19homecoming at the Nashville Municipal Auditorium. Only By The Night'sfirst single, “Sex On Fire,” will be available on itunes beginning next week.The song received its first public airing yesterday, Tuesday, August 5, onMySpace Music, the band's MySpace page and kingsofleon.com. A video for thesong is scheduled to be shot in Los Angelesthis week, directed by the renowned Sophie Muller. Beginning September 1, theband will also host a series of home movies that document Only By The Night’s creation. The group will also play Jersey City, NJ’sAll Points West Festival this weekend.
