The third annual Hippiefest will hit
the road this summer, celebrating the music of the ‘60s and ‘70s. This year’s
outing coincides with the 40th anniversary of the “Summer of '68,” a period
which laid the groundwork for many styles of modern rock. An eclectic mix of
classic rock acts have signed on for this year’s festivities, including Cream
bassist Jack Bruce, Eric Burdon & The Animals, Melanie, The Turtles
featuring Flo & Eddie, Terry Sylvester, Janis Ian, Badfinger’s Joey Molland
and Jonathan Edwarsds. The revue is scheduled to kick off July 11 at Phoenix, AZ’s The Dodge
Theater and stop in most major markets before wrapping up August 10 at Pompano Beach, FL’s
Pompano Beach Amphitheater. As in years past, fans can also expect some onstage
collaborations throughout the extended outing.
