Herbie Hancock, Dr. John to Appear at Playboy Jazz

The first Playboy Jazz Festival took place in 1959 to celebrate the 5th anniversary of Playboy Magazine. The magazine revived the brand in 1979 and has since turned the annual event into one of the summer’s premiere jazz gatherings. This year’s Playboy Jazz Festival will take place at Los Angeles’ Hollywood Bowl from June 14-15. Artists scheduled to appear on Saturday include Al Jarreau, Poncho Aanchez Latin Jazz Band with special guest Eddie Floyd, the James Moody Quartet, Dr. John & the Lower 911 and Tower of Power, while Herbie Hancock, Keb’ Mo’, Oy Hargrove Big Band and Ryan Shaw are also slated to appear Sunday.
