Guster plans to debut a handful of new songs at a fundraiser for Barack Obama. The group has spent 2008 off the road working on a batch of new songs while each of the three founding members celebrated the birth of his first child.

The benefit will take place at Brooklyn, NY’s Music Hall of Williamsburg on October 7 and will also feature performances by Andrew Bird, Fiery Furnaces, Les Savy Fav, Alina Simone and Martin Bisi. Comedians Lizz Winstead, Eugene Mirman, John Roberts, Heather Lawless, Kumail Nanjiani and Adira Amram will also perform. “The order of performers is random and we're likely to play a five-song acoustic set,” Guster posted on its website. “With a few new songs in the mix too if we can write the lyrics by then.”

The benefit will boast an Obama Room where viewers can watch the evening’s debate and sign up to volunteer. Music is scheduled to start at 7:30 PM and run through 12:30 AM. A surprise marquee act is also scheduled to perform.
