Frank Zappa’s The
Torture Never Stops will finally see the light of day on DVD. The film, which was edited by Zappa himself, originally
aired on MTV and captures the guitarist’s October 31, 1981 performance at New York’s Palladium. The
show spans 24 songs and over two hours, featuring Zappa all-stars such as Ray
White, Steve Vai, Bobby Martin, Tommy Mars, Ed Mann, Scott Thunes and Chad Wackerman. Of particular
note is as a fret-shredding guitar duel between Zappa and a young Vai on
"Stevie's Spanking."
The DVD also boasts bonus concert footage of the songs "Teen-Age
Prostitute" and "City of Tiny
Lights" and a music video for "You Are What
You Is." Also included are a set of temporary Frank Zappa tattoos and a
set of No-D glasses. For more information please visit www.zappa.com.
