David Byrne has finalized the first leg of his extended tourin support of Everything That HappensWill Happen Today, his forthcoming collaboration with Brian Eno. Aspreviously reported, Byrne’s setlist will also include material culled from hisprevious collaborations with Eno: the experimental My Life in the Bush of Ghosts, as well as the Talking Heads albumsMore Songs About Buildings and Food, Fearof Music and Remain in Light. Dueout August 18, Everything That HappensWill Happen Today is said to be the culmination of a year's worth ofwriting, recording, and travel between New York and London. The album will beself-released and made available as a stream and digital download for purchaseexclusively through everythingthathappens.com.

Byrne will kick off the first leg of his tour September 16at Bethlehem, PA’sZoellner Arts Center- Baker Hall. As of press time, Byrne’s tour will continue through a November 8stop at Philadelphia’s Tower Theatre. In early 2009, Byrnewill take another lap through the U.S.,before focusing on Australasia in early '09, and Europein March 09.

According to Byrne, EverythingThat Happens... is less a collage than the duo's previous effort of some 27years ago and more a collection of songs. "When we started this work, westarted to think we were making something like electronic gospel: a music wheresinging was the central event, but whose sonic landscapes were not the typenormally associated with that way of singing," Eno said in a statement."This thought tapped into my long love affair with gospel music, which, curiously, was inadvertently initiated by David and Talking Heads."

On his blog, Byrne also explained his unique promotionalapproach:

I'm also wonderingwhether the web-curious will allow news of the album to spread more or less byitself. In the past, I might have undertaken all kinds of expensive marketingplans to prepare for a record release: there would be a teaser, live shows, posters, magazine ads, interviews, and advance CDs sent to writers and reviewers. We'vedone a few interviews, but that's about it. It will be interesting to see ifaudiences find out about this song -- and the record -- without all thosemarketing techniques, and solely through Internet word-of-mouth.

In addition, Byrne’s contributions to the season of the HBOseries Big Love will be featured onthe new CD Big Love: Hymnal. The albumwill hit stores August 19.
