Dave Matthews and Tim Reynolds will play their first show in Hawaii as part of Jack Johnson's fifth annual Kokua Festival.
The multi-band event will take place from April 19-20 at Honolulu's
Waikiki Shell, also featuring appearances by local island favorites
Paula Fuga and Go Jimmy Go, and the latest addition to the Brushfire
Records family, Hawaii-born, Minneapolis-based Mason Jennings. All
proceeds from last year's festivities will benefit the Kokua Hawaii
Foundation, a non-profit organization founded by Jack and Kim Johnson
to support environmental education programs in the schools and
communities of Hawaii. The funds raised from the Kokua Festival will be
used to further support school recycling on Oahu, sponsor field trips,
and roll out the new farm-to-school program 'AINA In Schools.
Jack Johnson will release his next studio album, Sleep Through The Static,
tomorrow. The album marks the first time Johnson's college friend, and
longtime sideman, Zach Gill (ALO) is credited as a fulltime band
member. Johnson will headline Coachella this April and is rumored to
appear at the first annual All Points West Festival in August.
