As previously reported, on Saturday January 12 the inaugural Mondo Music Festival will take place at New York’s Highline Ballroom. The eclectic, internationally-themed festival will feature a number of New York-based funk and world music artists, including Daptone recording artists The Budos Band, Jose Conde Y Ola Fresca, Zemog El Gallo Bueno and Burkina Electric. DJ Busquelo will provide entertainment between sets.  The multi-band event is hosted by the Mondo Mundo Agency, a group known for its work with Brazil's Milton Nascimento and Romania's Taraf de Haidouks. The event will coincide with the Association of Performing Arts Presenters convention, which will take place throughout Manhattan from January 11 – 15. Budos Band, who also shares members with Antibalas and Robert Walter’s 20th Congress, recently received a boost when several of its members backed Amy Winehouse as part of the Dap-Kings. Members of the group are rumored to perform with Winehouse if she clears customs and is allowed to sing at the Grammy Awards in February.
