Jon Fishman will spend a few days on the road with keyboardist Marco
Benevento this November. Benevento had originally tapped Slip drummer Andrew Barr and
Jacob Fred Jazz Odyssey/Tea Leaf Green bassist Reed Mathis as the backing band
for his brief run in support of his first solo studio album, Invisible Baby. According to Benevento’s camp, Barr was forced to cancel his upcoming
shows with the trio after a previously confirmed tour with Canadian indie-rockers
Land of Talk was extended
into November.
As of press time, Fishman will join Benevento
and Mathis in Hartford (Real Art Ways, 11/7), New
York (Drom, 11/8), Teaneck, NJ (a newly-added show at Mexicali Live, 11/9) and Burlington (FlynnSpace,
11/10). Fishman and Benevento recently
collaborated at Asheville, NC’s Loki Festival as part of the Everyone Orchestra.
Benevento has
also toured extensively with Fishman’s Phish co-founders Trey Anastasio and
Mike Gordon over the years.
Immediately after his tour with Mathis and Fishman, Benevento will hit the road for a string of
dates with Slip bassist Marc Friedman and JFJO drummer Raymer. The trio is
currently confirmed to appear in Boston (11/12,
Cafe 939), Northampton (11/13, Iron Horse), Fall River (11/14, Narrows Center For The Arts) and Philadelphia (11/16,
World Cafe Live).
