Ben Harper first bonded with
the members of Pearl Jam when the grunge-legends took him out on the
road for a European tour back in the 1990s. Since then Harper has
played with the members of Pearl Jam numerous times, most recently on
Sunday when he joined Eddie Vedder for a few songs at Los Angeles'
Wiltern Theatre. Partway through Vedder’s solo set, Harper took the stage to duet with the Pearl Jam singer on "No More," a track the pair recorded for the politically-charged Body of War
soundtrack. In addition, former Pearl Jam/Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer
Jack Iron, who introduced Vedder to his future bandmates after their
previous band Mother Love Bone dissolved, appeared on Pearl Jam’s hit
cover of "Last Kiss" and jammed with both Vetter and Harper on “All
Along the Watchtower." Harper and Vedder performed both “No Moore” and
“Rocking in the Free World” together at Lollapalooza last August Since
leaving the alt-rock world, Irons has focused primarily on more
improvisational music.
Vedder will appear at San Diego, CA’s Spreckels Theatre tonight and tomorrow.
