One-time Relix cover subjects Ben Harper, Jack Johnson and Tenacious
D are among the acts scheduled to join the Beastie Boys’ Get Out and Vote tour.
The brief outing is scheduled to kick off in Richmond,
VA on October 28 and also make stops in St. Paul, MN on November
1 and Milwaukee, WI on November 2. These shows are timed with
the 2008 general elections, which will be held nationwide on November 4.
An eclectic mix of bands will join the Beastie Boys along
the way. In Richmond,
Johnson, Sheryl Crowe, Norah Jones and Santogold will support the trio, while Harper and Tenacious D will supply opening duties in St. Paul and Harper, Tenacious D and the duo David Crosby
and Graham Nash will support the group in Milwaukee.
Though the run of shows is simply intended to encourage voting among music fans,
the Beastie Boys openly support Barack Obama.
The Beastie Boys appeared on the December/January issue of
Relix . These three shows will likely be the group’s only live appearances
before 2009.
