Animal Collective will release its ninth full-length album in early 2009. The experimental rock group has spent the past few months in the studio working on Merriweather Post Pavilion and will finally release the project on January 20, 2009 through Domino Records.

The album was recorded in early 2008 at Oxford, Mississippi’s Sweet Tea Recording Studio with the help of engineer of Ben Allen. In addition to CD, Merriweather Post Pavilion will be available on 2xLP and digital formats. The album, which is named after a Maryland venue outside the group’s Baltimore home, includes the tracks “In the Flowers,” “My Girls,” “Also Frightened,” “Summertime Clothes,” “Daily Routine,” “Bluish,” “Guys Eyes,” “Taste,” “Lion In A Coma,” “No More Runnin” and “Brothersport.” The group will appear next at Berlin’s Berghain this Saturday.
