My Morning Jacket will celebrate the release of their fifth studio album with a special “Evening With” performance at New York’s Radio City Music Hall on June 20. The group is in the midst of putting the finishing touches on the currently untitled project, which is due out on June 10 via ATO. The highly anticipated follow up to 2005’s Z--- which found the Kentucky-bred quintet adding harder, more indie-centric textures to their patented mix of country, folk, rock and jam---the new album is being produced by Joe Chiccarelli and vocalist Jim James. A multiple Grammy winner, Chiccarelli’s resume includes production work with such eclectic acts as The Shins, Brian Wilson and The White Stripes.

With the exception of a few benefit gigs, My Morning Jacket has shied away from the stage while recording their new project. James did, however, debut a new song believed to be included on the record at a Revenge of the Book Eaters benefit last August. The album is also rumored to have a much stronger gospel influence than previous My Morning Jacket releases.

As previously reported, My Morning Jacket will play a series of shows in Texas timed with the annual SXSW music conference. The full band will perform with Yo La Tengo at the Houston Verizon Wireless Theatre on March 10 and at the Austin Music Hall on March 13, while James will play a solo set at the St. David’s Church on March 15. While the group has not confirmed any plans beyond this June, My Morning Jacket is known for its invigorating festival performances, having played at such gatherings as Bonnaroo, Coachella, Austin City Limits, Lollapalooza, Langerado, High Sierra, Mountain Jam and the Telluride Bluegrass Festival since signing with ATO.
