American Babies will re-release its debut album on April 1
via SCI Fidelity. The group, which features Brothers Past's Tom Hamilton, his brother Jim
Hamilton, The Duo's Joe Russo and RANA's Scott Metzger, originally released their self-titled
debut in 2007. Since then the group has performed at festivals like Wicker Park,
Bonnaroo, Langerado, SXSW and CMJ and built a sturdy fanbase independent of the
four musicians' other bands. In addition to concert staples like “Invite Your
Friends,” “American Babies,” “Brooklyn
Bridge” and “Swimming at
Night,” American Babies also features
former Fat Mama vibes-wiz Kevin
Kendrick and the Disco Biscuits’ Aron Magner. The disc’s independent printing
topped several members of the Relix staff’s “best of” lists at the close of
2007.
"I don't want to get too deep on it," Hamilton says. "I
write songs and I play the guitar. It is what I do and it is who I am."
The quartet will tour behind American Babies this spring and summer, including an April 30 support
spot for Sheryl Crow at West Palm
Beach, FL’s Sunfest
and an appearance at Wakarusa.
