Bass player Eric Avery had not performed a gig with his former band mates Perry Farrell, Dave Navarro and Stephen Perkins in 17 years. However last night, in Los Angeles he took the stage with Jane’s Addiction as the group reunited at the inaugural NME Awards USA. The British magazine honored the four with its Godlike Genius Award and then the quartet delivered a set that featured Jane’s classics “Stop,” “Mountain Song” and an acoustic take on “Jane Says.” Avery was the lone member of the four who has not participated in the group’s reunions over the past years, expressing an unwillingness to revisit the past as opposed to moving forward with new music. However, at an event that celebrated the group’s career, Avery finally relented. It is unknown if Avery will go on to perform with Jane's again in the months to come but given his past reluctance, it is more likely that this was a one-off occurrence.
