The Allman Brothers Band has postponed
its annual residency at New York’s Beacon Theatre until 2009. After
canceling their run of May performances while Gregg Allman recovers
from treatment for Hepatitis C, the group originally hoped to play the
Beacon this fall. Instead, the group will return to the Beacon in early
2009 for a series of shows that will commemorate the group’s 40th
Anniversary.
“New York’s a second home to us,” Allman said in the statement. “We
love playing there and are as disappointed as anybody not to be able to
get there this time.”
The Allman Brothers Band still plans to hit the road this
August with special guests Bob Weir & RatDog. As of press time, the
group has confirmed appearances in Wantagh, NY (8/13), Holmdel, NJ
(8/15), Mansfield, MA (8/16), Canandaigua, NY (8/22) and Camden, NJ
(8/23). Dates for shows in upstate New York, Connecticut, Pennsylvania,
Michigan, Illinois and Colorado are expected to be confirmed soon.
