Back to the Woods
Self-Released
Early on in the track
“First of Things,” you realize The Brew has hit upon a dream
hook that is filled with breathtaking magnitude. It is that sense of
adventurous discovery that informs the cuts on the modern prog-rock tandem’s
latest release, the deceptively-titled Back to the Woods. They, somehow,
instinctually know how to write a catchy song… heck, pick any random track—“Control,”
has unique elements of lyrical jazz hinged to a cool groove, “Black Train,” is
a pop rock throwdown, “Castle Walls” shifts your ethereal molecules, and the
aforementioned “First of Things” features a gorgeous song structure. The New
England Brewsters have taken a few well-considered steps into the realm of
really good songwriters that rock, transcending even themselves at times.
