Escaping Sargasso Sea

SCI Fidelity

Unlike other jambands in the electronic genre, Lotus is a band that consistently delivers high-quality studio and live albums, material that translates exceptionally well between both environments. Summoning the realms of jazz, disco, electronic, and world music, Lotus’ double-disc live album Escaping Sargasso Sea effectively melds its styles into a fresh post-rock deliverance. It’s sexy and sophisticated dance music, mature enough to be played in the club or the living room. Drawing material from its previous studio album The Strength of Weak Ties¸ songs such as “When H Binds to O” are refreshingly mellifluous while compositions such as “Wax” and “Flower Sermon” delve into trance and funk grooves. Historically, the Sargasso Sea was thought to be a haunted and unnavigable body of water within the Bermuda Triangle. Fittingly, Lotus's Escaping Sargasso Sea is a smooth voyage even if you get lost in the undertow.
