WARTS AND ALL

Although Snatches of Pink offers the punch of the Stones and the rawness of The Ramones, they’re not well known beyond the south. The band’s new release, Love Is Dead, may change that. But founder Michael Rank isn’t bemoaning his career, which has included opening for everyone from Iggy Pop to Soundgarden. “I’m always trying to create the music I want to hear,” says Rank. “It’s getting harder and harder to stumble onto it.” A self-professed 1976-1979 music era guy, Rank admits he’s especially proud of his band’s latest offering. He fine-tuned the songwriting but kept healthy doses of the mood and vibe (including musical screw ups) he adores. “People are missing the great thing about the Stones, Johnny Thunders and Aerosmith–where they screw up. That’s rock and roll,” he says. “We’re just a rock and roll band. To me, that’s a really cool thing.” www.snatchesofpink.com
